Fieldcrest Farm, LLC was originally established in 1991 as a wholesale plant nursery. In 2014, the new Rivah Southern™ brand was created under the Fieldcrest Farm, LLC company umbrella. The farm continues to offer their from-the-farm products such as homemade baked goods, handmade soaps, and birdseed wreaths at several local and area farmers' markets. These items can also be found and purchased from our online store.
The Fieldcrest Farm line of baked goods have become customer favorites reminiscent of "grandma's" old fashioned baking when ingredients included real butter, fresh fruits and eggs, and garden-grown herbs. Our handmade soaps, made with such ingredients as goat milk, oatmeal, moisturizing oils (olive, coconut, palm), and shea butters, come in a variety of fragrances. Not wanting to forget everyone's favorite backyard friends, handmade birdseed wreaths made with dried cranberries come in two sizes and are perfect for not only hostess or teacher's gifts, but also for the many people now keeping backyard chickens.
Rivah Southern Brand
In 2014, her deep affection for what is known as the 'Rivah Country' area inspired owner, Christine Swinson, to create a Rivah Southern™ line of products that would convey the feeling that comes with being fortunate enough to live and enjoy the Rivah lifestyle itself. An avid cook, Christine created her Rivah Southern Seasoning and Rub along with her Rivah Southern Lavender Lemonade. She wanted a seasoning adaptable enough to taste great on not only pork and chicken but fish and seafood (such as salmon, bacon wrapped scallops, and locally caught Rockfish) as well as the many fresh vegetables grown and sold at the area's many local farmers' markets. Both she and her Rivah Southern team, as she fondly refers to her family, believe the blend she created fits the bill and they have enjoyed receiving the many rave customer reviews. The Lavender Lemonade has become quite a hit for use not only as is but as a mixer with their customers' favorite adult beverages. (Hint: They will tell you a certain spiced rum is a customer favorite for the mixing.)
The area here is fondly known as 'Rivah Country', but you will find these products can easily apply to any river area and the residents fortunate enough to call it home. The Rivah Southern brand offers products that pair with and/or compliment the many activities available in a river located area. Lazy, warm summer and pleasant fall days sunning, swimming, fishing, boating, jet skiing, paddle boarding, and outdoor barbecues with family and friends are a common occurrence. All are welcome, and the more, the better.
The 'Rivah' Way
Those of us fortunate enough to live the 'Rivah Southern' lifestyle know just how blessed and privileged we are. We are ever mindful that good manners and saying ma'am and sir never go out of style, porching with an iced mixed beverage is considered a recreational activity, and that we are each responsible for acting as good stewards in helping to protect and preserve our waters that offer up their considerable bounty. It is here on the Rappahannock River that the rockfish, Chesapeake Bay blue crab, and oysters call their home deep within her waters, and the great bald eagle and osprey soar overheard while downriver pelicans can be seen gliding effortlessly on spread wings swooping in to scoop up a tasty meal. The great blue heron can be seen stoically guarding its shores while turtles bask on dead driftwood in the heated sun. Many a livelihood has been made upon her waters with traditions passed from one generation to the next.
Christine, along with the help of her family, is committed to delivering quality products to you that reflect the 'Rivah' way. She and her family not only embrace tradition but strive to work together to make a difference in people's lives by remembering this wise phrase penned by the late Maya Angelou:
People will forget what you said
People will forget what you did
But people will never forget how you made them feel.
It is our hope that the products offered here make you feel not only a connection to our local Rappahannock River but to all our rivers nationwide and the bounties they have to offer. May they remind you of, or inspire you, to want that Rivah Southern feeling and lifestyle for both yourself and your family. It is a lifestyle rooted not only in tradition, but one filled with family and friends enjoying water fun while creating lifetime memories.
From Fieldcrest Farm to you - here's wishing you a Rivah Southern Day!
